1. Overview

Your privacy is very important to Sketch.IO. Accordingly, Sketch.IO has developed this Policy in order for you to understand how we collect, use, communicate, and disclose personal information. The following outlines our privacy policy.

  1. Before or at the time of collecting personal information, we will identify the purposes for which information is being collected.
  2. We will collect and make use of personal information solely with the objective of fulfilling those purposes specified by us and for other compatible purposes, unless we obtain the consent of the individual concerned or as required by law.
  3. We will only retain personal information as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.
  4. We will collect personal information by lawful and fair means and, where appropriate, with the knowledge or consent of the individual concerned.
  5. Personal data should be relevant to the purposes for which it is to be used, and, to the extent necessary for those purposes, should be accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
  6. We will protect personal information by reasonable security safeguards against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
  7. We will make readily available to customers information about our policies and practices relating to the management of personal information.

Sketch.IO is committed to conducting our business in accordance with these principles in order to ensure that the confidentiality of personal information is protected and maintained.


2. Sharing Images on Sketchpad

By clicking “share” and sharing an image you acknowledge that you understand and agree to the Sketch.IO Privacy Policy and the Sketchpad Terms of Service. Your image will be publicly available at a unique URL which cannot be easily guessed. It’s your responsibility and decision to share this URL and you may email [email protected] to request the URL be removed and the image permanently deleted from the Sketchpad database. Please note that aside from contest submissions, Sketch.IO does not track user specific data regarding shared files and we typically have no way of determining the original author of a file.

How do I request an image I shared be deleted?

You may email [email protected] with the URL of the shared image and Sketch.IO will review and respond to your request within 72 hours. Sketch.IO will work diligently to respond to any reasonable request for URL removal upon receiving an electronic notice delivered to [email protected]. We appreciate your understanding and hope you enjoy sharing images safely on Sketchpad!

Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Notices

Any DMCA claims will be addressed within 48 hours and proper DMCA notices must be electronically delivered to [email protected] for a timely response.


3. Sketchpad and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

Sketch.IO is proud to uphold privacy practices that meet the COPPA rule requirements specified by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

How does Sketch.IO handle children’s information?

Sketch.IO has developed Sketchpad to be an enjoyable experience for users of all ages, including those under 13. Please use your due diligence and talk to your children about posting and sharing any pictures online. Sketchpad has a built in sharing feature which allows users to generate an unique URL to share their image with others. Talk to your kids about the importance of never posting any personal information in shared images such as your name, pictures of your home, your phone number, or your home address. Sketch.IO is committed to compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) , a federal law designed to protect children online. We take children’s privacy seriously and encourage parents to take an active role in protecting their children’s privacy and online experience at all times. Except as otherwise outlined in this Policy, we do not collect personal information from users of the Services. Collection and Use of Children’s Personal Information

Sketch.IO may collect and store anonymous identifiers such as cookies and session information from children without parental consent for the purpose of support the internal operations of Sketchpad or Service or as otherwise permitted under COPPA.

Sketch.IO may collect and store other personal information about children if this information is submitted by a child with prior parental consent or by the parent or guardian of the child. Such instances include when users contact Sketch.IO for support via the contact forms embedded on Sketch.IO’s company website and within the Sketchpad App User Guide. When users submit information, we ask they verify their dates age and understand our Privacy Policy.

Sketch.IO may collect and store the following types of personal information about a child when submitted by a child with prior parental consent or by the parent or guardian of the child: first and/or last name, email address, parent’s or guardian’s name, and parent’s or guardian’s email address. Sketch.IO may also collect the child’s mailing address and/or telephone number when necessary to respond to an inquiry or fulfill a transaction, such as sending the winner of a contest or sweepstakes the awarded prize.

When making a purchase on Sketch.IO, we may collect a username and password from registrants for the purpose of saving that user’s order and account information. Additionally, we are prohibited by COPPA from conditioning a child’s participation in an activity - like contests - on the child’s disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in the activity. This means that if we don’t need a specific piece of information (like the child’s phone number) to allow the child to participate in a contest, we simply won’t ask for it, even with parental consent.

Disclosure of Children’s Personal Information

We do not share your personal information with third parties other than as described in our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Sketchpad EULA. Your privacy is important to us and we never sell your or children’s information to third parties. Your information is only used to fulfill an order or inquiry and to improve Sketch.IO’s products and services.

Parental Access

A parent who has already given Sketch.IO permission to collect and use their child’s personal information can, at any time, do the following: (1) review, correct, or delete the child’s personal information; and/or (2) discontinue further collection or use of the child’s personal information. 4. Using Sketchpad in Schools and for Education

Sketchpad is used by millions of students every month for online learning and inside the classroom. Teachers have the ability to share images and templates with students by using Sketchpad’s built-in sharing feature and these images are a unique public URL which cannot be easily guessed. Students can also use Sketchpad’s built in sharing feature as a means to submit images to teachers for assignments. Please refer to section 2. Sharing Images on Sketchpad for more details on how shared images are handled.

Additional Legal Agreements Between Sketch.IO and Education Institutions

Sketch.IO is willing to enter into separate agreements with schools and education institutions on an as-need basis. Common agreements include a "Parent’s Bill of Rights" and "District Data Privacy Agreements." Please contact [email protected] with questions and agreement requests.


5. Information Security

Sketch.IO has established company policies in an effort to protect your personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and/or destruction. For example, Sketch.IO strives to provide only those employees performing a legitimate business function with access to any user’s personal information. Sketch.IO also reviews its security procedures periodically to consider appropriate new technology and updated methods.

Sketch.IO retains your information for business purposes, for as long as your account is active, and/or as long as is reasonably necessary to provide you with our products and services. Sketch.IO will also retain your information as reasonably necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. We may also retain cached or archived copies of your information for a reasonable period of time.

Despite our efforts, please be aware that no security measure is ever perfect or impenetrable. To that end, Sketch.IO will notify users of a data breach when Sketch.IO determines that is reasonably necessary in accordance with applicable law.


6. Sketchpad and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Sketch.IO is committed to privacy and that’s why our Privacy Policy already adhered to the the high standard of the new European data protection law known as GDPR, and why Sketch.IO is ensuring we maintain those rights and extend them to all our users, inside and outside the EU.

Where is my data stored?

Documents stored on your computer

By default, all your documents created with Sketchpad are stored on your local computer. None of your documents are uploaded to Sketchpad’s servers unless you explicitly share them.

Documents stored in Google Drive

When you turn on Google Drive for file storage, you’re trusting Google to protect your data. You can read more about Google’s robust privacy policies here.

Shared documents uploaded to Sketchpad

When you share a document on Sketchpad it is uploaded to the US-based AWS data center. You can read more about AWS security here.

All shared documents are uploaded to a unique URL. The URL can not be guessed and all filenames are obfuscated.

How do I delete documents shared to Sketchpad?

If you’ve shared a document to Sketchpad by mistake and wish to have it deleted, please contact our Customer Support team and provide the URL to the document you wish to have removed.

Is my data secure?

We have data encryption in transit and at rest, meaning all our data in our servers, underlying storage, backups, replicas, and snapshots are encrypted. When you share a document to Sketchpad the data is encrypted while in transit to the US-based AWS data center. You can read more about AWS security here.

The provider that hosts Sketchpad maintains multiple certifications for its data centers, including ISO/IEC 27001:2013 compliance, PCI certification, and SOC reports.
